Just not that into it ...

A few days ago, I was having a conversation with my sister, and telling her about why I launched this blog and with very little consideration, she said to me “Oh, I’m not into politics…” and we quickly moved onto another subject. Later that day, when reflecting on the earlier events, I decided that I’m not into politics, though a common retort, is no longer a valid answer, if ever it was.

The Race Card?

Alas, Rick “Man on Dog” Santorum has accused Vice President Biden of “playing the race card”.

First and foremost, what the hell is the race card? Besides being just plain stupid, it’s a vague, nebulous and ambiguous metaphor. Nobody knows exactly what it means, mostly because nobody cares.  All anybody really knows is that once the charge has been leveled, the chargee is supposed to summarily and apologetically retreat, ashamed at having used the term in the first place, knowing all the while he is banished from any future philosophical discourse simply for having the audacity to have been accused of the offense.  And there’s never even any follow up.  Once someone plays the race card, the conversation is over.  The race card often does more to end dialogue than a hydrogen bomb.

Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan?

Are you fucking shitting me?

As a candidate, people have problems taking you seriously because you've reversed yourself (sometimes within minutes) on every issue that's been presented. You need to convince women, and minorities and the elderly to vote for you.  You need a candidate that will enforce your strengths and counter your weaknesses.  Most of all, you don't want to make the same mistake John McCain made by choosing a little known entity that will prove to be an idiot and utterly make your campaign the punch line of political jokes for years to come.

Put up or shut up?

Just so we're clear, Harry Ried says a confidential source told him Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years and Mitt Romney's response is Harry Reid needs to put up or shut up? First of all, that's not even what that means Mitt. You are the one being challenged, Mitt, so YOU need to put up or shut up. Secondly, what a typical Mitt Romney answer; to borrow a phrase from Earnest Lawrence Thayer, that's just haughty grandeur.
